iPhone Application: PocketGreet
For a mutual friend’s birthday, Mike Krieger built a one-off iPhone application that was a “greeting card”. At the party, we talked about the application, and decided to turn it into a full blown application. And so, PocketGreet was born. It’s an iPhone application for sending and receiving greeting cards.
The homescreen informs you of new cards, lets you browse old ones, and is where you begin to send a card.
Cards can contain up to three items: a photo, a subject, and a voice recording. We used the built in photo selector.
The voice recording is one of the two bits of magic in the application. It adds a sense of connection, and makes the cards more meaningful.
The other bit of magic is this theme. To see the photo and hear the recording, you have to shake your iPhone! This always gets a grin out of our testers.
