Redesign of information request form
This form, part of a website to request information about attending a college, was too confusing. I came up with this alternative flow, which our client loved. So did the graphic designer who had created the original interface.
Before
Originally, the process was five steps, and had a confusing array of buttons and tabs. First you’d select the degree type…

Then you’d select where you wanted to study, and the area of study.

Then you could see a description of that area of study. Unfortunately, that might not be the one you wanted (some of their names were confusing), and you’d have to click the back button to try a different one.

After
We removed the large buttons for each degree type, leaving us with only the tabular navigation — a much cleaner design. We also moved the input fields for where you wished to study to the first screen.

Finally, we changed the last screen to allow you to read descriptions for any area of study simply by changing the dropdown.
